Escort Live is our solution for this now. Users can mark cop spotted alerts for others to see and these will auto delete after an hour. Unfortunately Escort Live is not compatible with the Passport iQ
![]() There are some speed traps in Defender. We tried adding customer reported and confirmed speed traps into Defender but were met with strong disapproval, to put it lightly, from our customers. When their detector alerts then most people want to see a threat. If they do not after several alerts then they will start to ignore the alerts altogether.

I thought that the alert for known and well used speed traps was one of the big features!! |

Well yeah it is, the iQ has an excellent integrated radar detector, the 9500ix. A radar detector is for detecting active speed traps. Having it alert you to most every highway median, which is what happens when you start adding customer provided POIs, gets annoying quickly. For instance, I see police at the same locations regularly but many times I can go weeks without seeing them at these locations. Sure, these are speed trap locations that everyone around here knows of but I don't want to be alerted to them if they are inactive. Enter Escort Live, real-time networked alerts.
I sort of mis-spoke before. You certainly can use Escort Live on your smartphone for free with limited features or for a fee with all features enabled. It will just not interact with your Passport iQ so you will not be able to report radar and laser alerts. I personally use an iQ almost every time I drive. It is an excellent detector with the best detector display ever. Plus it is a navigation device that comes in handy when I am in unfamiliar territory.

The 2 mile warning with the beep is so annoying and I've only used my iq for 1 week is insane. If you mute then you don't hear the warning when approaching a red light camera. And how about that great back up ability of your favorite destinations? Anyone find that useful? Anyone find it? Don't look, it's not there!. "Complacency breeds mediocrity"

For your nav destinations : did you tried with Detector Tools ? You can save (and restore) your iQ prefs.... maybe favorites too ?
