Angry Max 360c WIFI Issue

So my max 360c can't connect to the internet over car's wifi(2.4Ghz)/android's hotspot. Surprisingly enough, if I use my iPhone as a hotspot, and it works as described.
I've tried everything, factory reset, tried multiple android phones as hotspots, even tried to use a wifi extender to extend Android hotspot, max 360c still won't connect to the internet via these.
I checked the wifi info, and for all of these, I see that it's showing some weird wifi name and junk IP address (Name: IMG_4211.jpg

Exact same issue - scroll through this forum (or search) and you'll find numerous similar reports. No solution yet.

BTW, my hotspot is in a 2019 Chevrolet Volt and the same 360c worked fine in a 2017 Chevrolet Volt with its previous-generation hotspot.

cooledbuckle,

Are you certain that the hotspot has internet connectivity? Can you connect a smartphone to the hotspot and browse the web?

Thumbs down Issue persists

Yes, hotspot works perfectly when other devices are connected. Only Max360c takes on the junk IP. It's supposed to be in the 192.x.x.x range. I think it's a DNS issue, I'd like to try manually entering the DNS in the radar detector, is that an option? I couldn't find it!

What version of firmware does your MAX 360c have installed? You can check by holding the MUTE and MRK buttons down while powering on the detector (remember M&M). If it is 1.7 or earlier then it should be updated using Detector Tools.

We are looking into reports of issues with certain Wi-Fi hotspots, as gadgeTT reported

Default Bump

I also have this problem on my 2019 Ram 3500ís built-in Wi-Fi hotspot.

The Ram does require the hotspot to have both upper and lower case letters, numbers, and symbols in the password though. Iíve been wondering if thatís why it wonít connect.

Can the 360c handle using symbols in the WPA2 password? Iíve seen some devices that canít for whatever reason...

Is it safe to assume, due to the lack of Escort Tech Support posting anything further, that those of us with this issue will not see a resolution by Escort and that our 360c "connected" units will continue to operate only via Bluetooth connection due to undocumented incompatibilities with our 2.4GHz hotspots in our new vehicles?

Most were resolved through an Android app update. Obviously this only affects those using an Android phone to initiate the Wi-Fi login.

Are you using an Android phone? If so, install the latest app and re-enter the Wi-Fi password to your Volt's Wi-Fi.

If not, let me know.

Nope - iOS. I have a long historical thread in these forums dating back almost a year for this issue with full details include OS, WiFi details, photos of the issue on the 360c, etc.... Since my original post back in Jan/Feb, many others have joined in with the exact same issue in other vehicles.

I am running the current 360c firmware, the current EL app on my iPhone 11 Pro running the latest version of iOS (13.2.2), etc....

It's been confirmed that my car's hotspot is 2.4Ghz and that everything else I've tried connects to it just fine - just the 360c that doesn't report a valid IP address and thus no through-connectivity.
