Question GPS Speed Error

My GPS speed has a +1 mph error. It registers zero when stopped, so it likely isn't an offset error, or it is but the display is incapable of showing -1 mph. It is +1 at all times and all speeds through 70 mph.
I have verified it against known good radar sources and another GPS device.

Has anyone seen this before? It has all updates since purchase in March. What effect if any would this have on location?

I don't think commercial GPS units claim better than a couple MPH accuracy anyway. I've always noticed a +/- couple MPH difference since Day 1.

My Max 360 is spot on with the speedometers in both my 2004 Jeep Liberty Renegade and my 2014 Nissan Altima. My 9500ix is -1 mph with both vehicles.

I thought that gps info was intentionally skewed at the satellites so that only DoD equipment could get the most accurate readings. It may be possible that +/- 1 mph is as accurate a reading as possible. In any case, your carís speedometer is never an accurate source to use as comparison.

The practice of civilian GPS degradation changed in 2000. Now everyone gets the same data from the satellites.

My Max 2, the nav in my car and the GPS speedo in my phone all agree. My car's speedo has some hysteresis, it reads about 1 mph low as you increase to a speed and a mph high when slowing down to a speed
