The Road Traffic Amendment Bill is currently before Parliament. If passed the new law it appears the new law will make it illegal to use radar detectors in all of Australia.

From that article:

"The new offence will see anyone caught with a detector face a $3200 fine for a first offence and $4800 for offences after that.

WA is the last jurisdiction in Australia to ban the use of the devices.

The offence will join the state's other laws banning laser jammers and electronic scramblers.

Police and Road Safety Minister Michelle Roberts said it was the end of the road for motorists who thought they could outsmart speed cameras.

The offences have been introduced in a separate bill to the Road Traffic Amendment Bill debated by the upper house in November last year."

End of the road in sight for drivers using radar detectors

"The Government is moving swiftly to outlaw the use of radar detectors in vehicles by creating new specific offences in the Road Traffic Act.

It was planned, based on advice from the State Solicitors Office to amend regulations, through a Road Traffic Amendment Bill currently before Parliament.

Due to obstruction in the Upper House, by the Liberal Party and Shooters, Fishers and Farmers MLC Rick Mazza, the Government has moved to create a standalone offence, to ensure its speedy passage into law.

Under the proposed new offence to be introduced into Parliament today, anyone caught driving a vehicle fitted with a radar detector will face a $3,200 fine.

A second or subsequent offence would attract a fine of $4,800"
