Coincidentally I've done that. When I travel I use my Iphone as a hot spot in my car (unlimited data) and connect my S7E to it via wifi. Same issue either way.

This is something new and looking at my update history I see there were 2 system updates in May that may be the cause.

I have a Max-2 that during May 2017 E.L. stopped working properly. GPS is totally out to lunch. The GPS lags and only works for a split second then crashes again. Whatever they did it is NOT working. When I got blasted with KA Band recently the message "Error Creating Marked Location" message appeared. "Unable to determine current location. Please ensure location services are enabled for this application, and try again." PLEASE E.L. Tech's roll back the version to the previous one. This new version is causing you to lose lots of customers. I have pretty much tried everything on my end. Re-installed E.L. 4 times. I drive a Chevy vehicle with built in WiFi and I made sure that it is on and working. I tried resetting the bluetooth from the detector to my phone (Samsung S6). I have tried updating my phone. All with no luck. The updates to the E.L. software in May 2017 is the reason for the crash. I am sure I am not the only person with this problem. Hopefully someone from Escort reads these messages and passes this problem on to someone who know how to fix it.

I was unaware that EL had an update in May. According to my updates the last EL update was in March. That being said, the problem very well could have started from then and I just didn't notice it. There's definitely a problem with EL because all my other Nav apps works perfectly. Waze acquires satellite quickly, Google maps does, and all my other apps that use the location services work fine as well. Most of the time I will run EL in the background with no other nav apps open because I'm just driving around town and not needed waze for navigation. Even then, it takes EL a good 5 minutes before it finally acquires satellite location and shows the PSL.

When I leave for work in the morning, my phone is still connected to my network, and doesn't switch over to Verizon until I'm about a block away. That makes no difference to its behavior. This morning I fired EL up before powering up the detector and got GPS lock in a couple seconds. After plugging the MAX360 in, within a relatively short period of time I had Bluetooth connectivity between the two devices - faster than what I typically see. I then proceeded to see the white crosshair on EL go gray, the (now gray) pushpin on the map disappear and then reappear after a few seconds. This process of acquiring GPS lock and then losing it repeated 3-4 times before it finally settled down to a solid lock. During this time I didn't touch either device and simply let them talk to each other on their own and get connected.

I was not aware that EL had been updated back in May and the changes in behavior I'm seeing could very well be coincidental with that update.

We did not update Escort Live in May. The last update to Escort Live for Android was in March. It sounds like something may be wrong with your phone.

Default gps services cannot be accessed at this time

I am getting the same issue. Google Maps and waze work fine using GPS. Sometime in May it quick working. I have the Samsung s8 and it was working fine till sometime in May? Could it be a Android update that is causing the problem?

I swear it said May on my phone but it says "Mar"...damn fine print and old eyes that can't focus close...yet Google Play say "March" from a desktop.

Anyway, I still say there is something going on between EL and the detector when they are trying to establish comms that causes GPS disconnects.

Regardless if it updated in march, a lot of us are seeing this problem.

It takes several minutes for it to find GPS, then it locks in for a few seconds and then looses GPS, locks for a few seconds and then looses GPS. It will do this every time and last for about 5 minutes at which point it locks and stays locked.

As stated in my previous post, all other GPS driven apps are running fine and EL does this even if its the only app running GPS.

My location setting is set to high accuracy and EL has all permissions turned on.

I've deleted the app, restarted the phone, and reloaded EL with the same results.

It's not intermittent, it does it every time now.

I am telling you this started happening in mid May. Why would I make it up? So I now tried the app with my wife's Samsung S6 phone and same thing. The GPS in E.L. is broken... Same issues that everyone else is saying on this post is happening.

Please post the version of Android and the make and model of your phone when reporting issues with Escort Live. Thank you.

I was only explaining that we have not changed EL since March, we did not cause this issue as was being claimed.

Those here with Android phones are not seeing the issue, including me. It is not pervasive. Regardless, we will look into it.
