Default Not Just An Android Issue

I have not been able to connect my Max 2 to Bluetooth using my Android or my Apple phone in months, and I have updated the Max 2 to the 2018 firmware/software. I have moved on to another brand of detector in my daily driver which I think performs much better than the Escort. I still use the Max 2 in my second car, but will not be purchasing another Escort product in the future unless this is resolved.

This is the problem when the functioning of your software depends on what happens with IOS and Android. You are constantly chasing solutions. Hope whatever you come up with offers a permanent fix.

Might there be a problem with the Bluetooth in your detector? I have no issues connecting to my Max 2.

As per usual, complete silence from them. It seems that it is time to move to another brand of detector that I can use the FULL capabilities of it for the money I spend.

Many calls to the "customer support" and all I gotten is the run around and snotty attitudes from the representatives, with the exception of one very polite and pleasant woman I spoke too, and yes I was quite nice during those calls making sure to not get upset because it was not their fault personally.

It's just very sad to see a company like Escort, who prides themselves on being the best in the business unable to answer a simple question of when will the app be updated and fixed for the new S8's and other Android devices that are having issues with Escort Live.

Just so you know the thread was started on June 13th and it stated "There are known bluetooth connection issues with BLE-equipped Escort Live devices and Android 8.x. We have an app update coming soon which should resolve these bluetooth connection issues.

The fix will be Escort Live handling bluetooth pairing for Escort devices. After the app update you will pair the detector through Escort Live, not Android."

Then on July 12th "The app update will be at least another week away." and still nothing updated for the connectivity issues.

Anyone from Escort wanna give us SOME real information now or do we jump like rats from a sinking ship how about some answers?

Ball is in your court Escort support team.

It has taken a little longer than anticipated. It is still coming.

Escort Passport

Since I bought it, my passport worked great on my iPhone 6+ with the one hiccup after the iOS 11 update which was quickly fixed by Escort Radar. I recently switched to an Android and it seemed to work fine for a couple months, then just stopped connecting.

I tried unpairing and repairing which seemed to help, if only for a day or so, then it stopped connecting completely and became difficult to even repair.

I love my Escort Passport and has saved me from more tickets than I can count - still ended up with a couple from the same sneaky motorcycle cop hidden behind a bush with a laser gun. Naturally, I my Passport warned me, but there's just no getting away from that.

Anyway, I found a way to get it to connect after it just won't connect anymore, but it is a long process and you basically have to start from scratch.

Unpair, close Live, (and this is the important part), go to Apps then find Escort Live and Force Stop, then repair, and start the Live app. Also, let the app fully load and find your position before backgrounding it. This should keep it working for as long as you are connected to the Passport.

During the step where you have to Force Stop the app, if the option to Force Stop reappears quickly, you are still paired. I haven't tried unplugging the Passport before force stopping, in lieu of unpairng and repairing, but I suspect that might also work.

I have also tried force stopping the app while in the house, which has worked a few times, but is not as reliable as the above method. Could also be timing. I will test more on this theory and update this post with results.

Until this problem is fixed, I usually only go through this much trouble if I will be driving for a while, like across town or to the beach. Good luck with finding the problem and fixing it. Please remember you have a loyal community of customers that would be happy to help you test potential updates to Live and firmware. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to start a beta program.

Thank you for the specific steps. I agree with you, with that many steps it's probably only worth it for long trips. I can usually get mine synced and running, but it's nice to have some specific steps to follow if it happens that I can't. Another thing I have done is reboot the phone, disconnect the 360 from power, and basically go from there. It's definitely not the kind of experience Escort wants us to be having.
