Default Battery Usage

Ok, first off I would like to say I really like the app. There are a few things I would like to be tweaked but I really need a fix for this one particular problem.

When in the car my phone is docked and charging, so battery consumption is not a problem. However, when I leave the car Escort live is still running in the background and runs the battery down.

I got in the habit of just closing all programs down when I grab it from the dock. That didn't work.

So then I started going in and force stopping the app after use. This is a pain and sometimes I forget.

On Sunday a few days ago I force stopped the app. On Wednesday, I noticed battery drainage and took a look. Sure enough the culprit was escort live. I hadn't even used it. I went in to force stop it and I didn't even have the option to. I had to uninstall it to get it to stop.

Any ideas as to what is going on?

FYI, I am using it on a Galaxy S8+ and an Escort max

I have an Edge 7 and I always use the back button on my phone to exit. A window pops up asking if I really want to exit and I say yes and it closes. Never had an issue with the battery being run down due to constant GPS use by the program.

I started the app up and let it run for a minute or two and then backed out of it as you (GumbyDammit223) suggested. I just checked it (about 2 hours later). Escort Live doesn't even show up in the list of apps that used battery.

I was skeptical, but that seemed to have worked. I will try that the next few times I am actually use it to be sure.

Thanks!!

There have been a series of posts in the past about people having issues with their phones heating up and batteries dieing from constant GPS usage. The problems stemmed from using the phone's shutdown controls instead of the program's which kept the phone from running its shutdown procedures. When I've used EL's shutdown, the program has remained in the background of my phone all day long and have never seen an acceleration of battery usage. Also, the GPS indicator goes away as well so it's not trying to acquire its position inside a building.
