Lightbulb Crowd sourced/learned false alert suppression regarding STATIONARY sources

This thread is regarding an idea for reducing/eliminating false alerts from STATIONARY sources. I created another thread regarding an idea for reducing/eliminating false alerts from MOVINGS sources (think car safety systems). That thread is here: http://escortradarforum.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=14793

Through Escort Live (or defender database updates) Escort could help us receive less (or no) false alerts from stationary sources. How you ask? Through crowd sourced/learned false alert suppression of these stationary sources.

Basically these stationary false alert locations would work the same way speed camera locations are stored and alerted too all over the country. In this case, you wouldn't be alerted to a known false alert location but your detector would remain blissfully silent even if you have never traveled in that particular area before. These alerts would be created (and automatically deleted) the same way false alerts are locked out on Escort's detectors (a person would drive past a certain location and if the same frequency was detected 3 times in a row it would be locked out) but on a bigger scale. Maybe the threshold could be increased, say to 10 users getting this same frequency 3 times in a row. These alerts would also be automatically deleted just as they are done now with Escort's detectors - if the user (or multiple users) passes by an area 3 times and the radar false alert is NOT there. This would ensure you are getting the most up to date and accurate false alert locations possible.

Possibly, with this "crowd sourced false alert suppression of stationary sources" idea implemented, you may never get a stationary false alert on your Escort RD again! Or at least theses false alerts would be significantly decreased. If this were to happen, your RD would more accurately alert when there is a legitimate stationary threat (real police radar) and NOT alert if it is a known false location (a Walgreens you never drove by before). Your detector will still alert if there is a real threat parked in a known false location as the odds of the exact frequency of the real threat's radar gun and the known false spot to be the exact same frequency (down the hundredth and thousandth decimal point) is exponentially small. Nevertheless, this option could be disabled/toggled on or off for those who do not want it if they have any particular fears.

Yeah I think that would be pretty cool. The nice thing would be if you drove from Texas to California, you would have lockouts stored before you even got there.

Exactly! You wouldn't need to drive by a source three times on unknown routes if crowd sourced learned falses were implemented.

A drive from Texas to New York with no (or significantly limited) falses. Only real threats being alerted. That would be music to my ears!

Should be easy to do if you think about it. It is just another fixed signal like red light cameras. All you would need is GPS coordinates and the frequency, just no alert.
Or am I missing something/ making it to simple?

Sounds about right to me. Again, you could turn this option off if you are not comfortable with it. Just like you can turn off GPS lockouts on the Max.

Also, a thought just occurred to me. If Escort did implement this crowd sourced false alert learning and suppression idea and they were truly genuinely interested in learning the "DNA"/"signature" of a false alert, this would be a great way for them to learn the hotspots of false alerts.

While its one thing for various users to say they are receiving random false alerts at various locations and for Escort to try and "pick a needle out of a haystack" for the reason for each particular person, with these hotspots, Escort could travel to them with Spectrum Analyzers/ oscilloscopes and really get a lot of good data to implement improvements in learning and locking out false alerts/threats from real ones.

The only thing that I can say is that this possibility has not escaped us.

Question

I LOVE that idea! BUT I'm going to go ahead and play Devil's advocate for juuuust a second...

What's to say that a certain police district (or several) spends an afternoon with different radar bands in their typical hiding spots, get Escort Live, mute the alerts, and it gets pushed to everyone. Then when you drive by those spots, you get pulled over for speeding and you have no idea why…nothing is stopping law enforcement from purchasing what we can, so they can easily mute an alert at designated spots with their radar guns and render that feature useless and actually turn the table on drivers.

Again, I LOVE the idea, but I wonder how likely that is that law enforcement would go the extra mile to do that..maybe? maybe not? Thoughts?
