Default How early should I receive a Ka reading, CO, perpendicular to transmitter?

The following video is taken on Interstate 87 exiting Sloatsburg rest stop heading north. Note the LEO (@ 2:53) parked perpendicular to traffic on the median, constant on, Ka band. Question, if I was not using Escort Live and Waze, how early should I have received a Ka reading? I have a Escort iX Ci Platform with one receiver near the front grill/bumper & two ShifterMax transmitters under the front bumper. Below is a time-log. Seems I did not get an actual Ka reading until I was directly on-top of the LEO.

First Escort Warning 2:03
First Waze Warning 2:26
Second Escort Warning 2:29
Third Escort Warning 2:45
First Escort Ka Warning & LEO in-sight perpendicular to traffic on median 2:53

From what I saw in that video that was definitely not constant on. The way he parked he could have a handheld KA gun and he is shooting IO when he spots a rabbit he thinks is speeding. If he did have a dash unit he would have to turn it at a hard angle and would never get parallel to the road at a low angle. He can then either shoot you in the back after you pass him or turn it the other way and hit you as you approach. If he had his radar gun pointed down range at you as you approach and ran CO you would have gotten a good mile alert. I see nothing wrong there, you ran into a trooper that is on his game.

It was off axis CO possibly too in my opinion.

Where is that dash cam located? It is really bumpy and was hard to watch.

Not a dash cam. That video was from my iPhone 8 (also running Wave & Escort Live) using a EasyWhy cell phone holder. The phone is held in the holder only by gravity.

I also had my car in "sport" mode and have lowering springs installed, both of which stiffen the ride.

I grabbed some stills of the LEO. Windows appear to be closed on the passenger side. He may be shooting laser or radar handheld out the drivers side, but it appears likely CO fix mounted. No?

Yes I think it is possible this was constant on. At these types of angles a detector sometimes won't alert until you are very close.

Agreed, plus when watching the Video, it appears as though the 2 cars on the left were providing some shielding as they were slightly ahead at pace

I agree. So in all to answer the question in the title of the thread..... No very much warning. lol In situations like this, you're not getting much warning. Good news is in the Real World encounters like this aren't too much a threat because if they wanted to really be catching speeders and to get an accurate reading they would be pointing their radar the right direction to obtain this.

Keep an eye and ear on it, but I think you are just fine with it.
