Default Permanent Mounted Speed Signs

They have just put up pole mounted digital signs that show your speed as you approach them ... my new 9500ci does not given out any signal or notice as i approach them. This has happened with five different signs they just installed. Any thoughts?

Some signs use different technology to get your speed, they usually don't show your speed right away ether but yours are new and i have only seen old ones.

no worries.

Interesting, it could use triggers in the pavement.

Just to be safe, keep an eye on normal radar detection and also see if you are getting the spinning GPS icon near known false radar alerts that have been locked out.

The 9500ci will usually give you an error message if there is a detection problem.

They are brand new permanent mounted signs - interesting thing is they have a small blue light blinking in the center of the speed display.

The speed sign may use an FM-CW modulation to sense the direction of vehicles in its field of view. FM-CW is allowed for license-free "Part 15" devices by the FCC. FM-CW is not allowed for police radar.

Your RD won’t alert because it doesn’t see the frequency. This type of sign is directional and will usually only show speed of oncoming cars.
If you want check the side of the radar antenna on the sign and see what the spec's say on the side of it. It might even say it's a FM-CW, and it runs around 2.45-GHz.
