You aren't correct in saying this. There is science behind how the radar receivers work. Escort isn't just doing it "on purpose".

Also since you are basically combing the forum and posting duplicate posts about this issue I am unapproving those posts, so they will be removed but not deleted. I don't see any point in posting this over and over. The issue has been brought up here and I have responded and anyone else that would like to respond here, but we don't need the same post on several threads even reviving old threads from over a year ago to attempt to reinterate this point.

Thank you for your understanding

Please don't post the same thing in multiple threads.

Thanks for understanding!

You, Dencool, are very mistaken. That might be your opinion, but it's absolutely not true.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?
The same thing happened to me. Mine worked fine for years, but suddenly stopped working after I updated through detector tools (it now shows "POWER RESET" after 30 mins or so and doesn't actually detect any signals in the 30 mins before it shows the error). Mine has been bricked since around March of this year. If you find a working solution, please let me know via DM. I have tried doing all of the resets that I saw here on the site, tried updating via a mac, tried updating via windows. I even tried reviving an old computer that I had years ago with an older version of the detector tools software. Every time, the firmware gets updated successfully, but it doesn't fix the issue.

I actually bought a different brand detector in the meantime to cover me with anything that Waze misses. Escort, if you value your customers, you would ensure that a software update doesn't brick a currently working product (regardless of a claim against calibration). Professionally, I have worked as a part of multiple software development teams. It would have been considered unacceptable if we were to break something that was working as you have done here and then tell our customers that they need to put money/effort/etc to fix the issue that we broke. If you want to throw an error that the unit needs calibration and continue to allow it to work, that's fine. Another alternative would be to allow the user to install the older firmware that was working fine for years (that's actually what I would prefer doing in this case). But to brick my device and make it useless is unacceptable. That's just my opinion, but I can see from searching the internet to resolve the issue, that many others share my opinion. Not that it probably matters, but these things matter to your users, and I know that I, personally, will never buy another Escort product again regardless of if they are rated better and have better features. A good experience will you gain you customers for life, but a bad one such as this will do the opposite.

As pointed out elsewhere, if you see a Reset Power message and resetting the power does not solve it then usually the unit is out of calibration and requires service, a hardware problem. The software simply found the issue after a full calibration sequence was performed after the software installation. It would have eventually happened if you had not updated your software.

If the software itself caused the problem then every 9500ix would be seeing this happen which is not the case.

Every radar detector ever made will eventually drift out of calibration. Ours can self calibrate digitally but there is a limit to this.

Also reread post #7.

Why it appears that updating the firmware caused this is because after updating the firmware, the detector performs a full calibration. If the detector cannot calibrate itself, then it will display this error. If the error does not go away when resetting the unit then it will need to be serviced. To set this up, contact us at the number in my signature below.

On the bright side, at least the detector warned you that it was not detecting properly. If we didn't put this error message in then it could have been someone in uniform letting you know this.
