Default "Permanently" Marked?

I have a Max 2. On a road I frequently travel, there is a permanent telephone pole mounted 'Your Speed" device (Ka). Unlike most such devices, it does not simply show an increasing Ka signal meter as I approach. For some reason, the Max 2 shows a police car graphic and then displays a distance count down. I can neither lock out the signal from this device using the GPS marking feature (which works fine on other such permanent devices) nor can I "Unmark" it on my detector so I can try to lock it out on the next drive down that road (I've tried on numerous passes).

Two questions:
1. Why does this particular signal show as a police vehicle?
2. Anyone have a solution for locking this out?

It sounds like it's a Live Alert - the radar has been picked up by another Escort Live user and so you are seeing the alert via your Escort Live. You will not be able to permanently get rid of it if another person is picking it up and reporting it.

That is the purpose of Escort Live.

You can toggle off Live Alerts - that would be the only way to stop getting them...

Others may provide more info....I am not an EL super user....

This may well be a permanently-set Speed Cam location in Defender. These cannot be removed.

Please send a PM to EscortRadar with the location (street intersection) and the City / State details, and he can look to see if it's something that is logged in Defender.

Also, actual Ka alerts aren't able to be locked-out because they are considered to be a genuine risk. Speaking for my, with some places using Ka for speed signs, I'd like to see an option to lock them out.

Question....

When you get this police car icon - do you still get the audio of the Ka ramp up and just not the visual graph or neither?

With the 'live alerts' it will show the icon, then it will count down the distance, but once a signal is picked up that will prioritizes and will show the Ka alert like normal until you pass.

Based on the above responses, my guess is that the location is incorrectly registered in the Defender database (it's annoying that someone would enter a speed reminder sign as a real threat). When I first bought the detector, I did update it with the then-current Defender database information.

Nonetheless, it still seems odd to me that, even if the Defender database shows a police vehicle there (permanently?), why I can't "unmark" it in my own device's memory and lock out that signal? The answer appears to lie in the point made above that Ka cannot be locked out (that one is new to me). As I think about it, I believe the other permanent speed reminder devices that I have successfully locked out are all K band. This doesn't explain why I'm seeing the police car graphic, but it does explain why the lockout feature isn't working. If Ka lockout doesn't work, a PM to Escort might fix the incorrect police vehicle image, but it won't stop the detector from going off.

I have not used Escort Live so I do not think that is the issue. I've seen the police car graphic in other locations. Strange that my detector displays that graphic despite not having used Escort Live.

As to the police car/strength meter question, I actually see it alternating. Usually, the Ka strength meter will start up first and then, as I approach, the meter is replaced by the police car graphic, and finally, a distance countdown. On some occasions, I think the meter and image toggle back and forth.

Thank you for the helpful replies!

!
Sounds like a prioritization conflict - database entry vs live radar being received. Much like band prioritization.

For everyone's information, Live alerts trump database entries. It's always been this way.

That is what I always thought, but based on the description above that is not happening. So either he is not getting any live alerts when he thinks he is, or there is a bug somewhere.
