Default Detector Tools 2.4.9 for Mac and Max 360

I just updated my Max 360 by using my Mac with Detector tools 2.4.9 and I thought I'd tell everyone about my experience.

Today, I downloaded the current (2.4.9) version of detector tools for Mac onto my MacBook Pro Running High Sierra (10.13.3) and installed it. I hooked up my Max 360 and clicked the message that acknowledges that Defender had expired. I clicked the green button and the detector immediately began firmware updates. Once it got to update 4 of 5, the status reported that the update had failed. I tried this operation 3 more times, all with the same result.

I remembered reading comments regarding incompatibilities with certain data cables, but I did not think that was the issue because I had just purchased brand new cables from Amazon specifically for this project. However,

DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THAT UPDATE ISSUES MAY BE CAUSED BY CABLES!

After numerous attempts to update with my new cables, I tried using another older cable that came from my Hitachi backup drive - and the update worked without a hitch. Turns out, the brand new 'data cables' from Amazon would not work for the 360 update.

So, if you are having problems, don't discount that your issues could be with the cable!!!

What with all the gnashing of teeth about data cables, I do not understand why Escort cannot just include an acceptable cable with each order of an Escort Radar Detector. All of the digital cameras that I have bought came with cables - many products do! I am sure that the cost of cables would not break Escort's bank account.
