Angry ZR4 Rear Block Error

I've had my Shifter ZR4 installed for about 9 months. Recently my system has started to display error messages via my integrated Beltronics V955 radar/laser detector.
Most times in the following sequence.
  • Low Volt
  • Rear Block
  • Error
  • Interface goes through start-up diagnostic, displays a long pulse for rear shifter
  • Then the inline power cord fuse blows
Does anyone have any experience with this issue or any suggestions? I'm not sure if I have a defective Rear Laser Shifter, but I think it's a hardware issue.

Good bet that the Rear shifter has water in it and it's shorting the power to ground and blowing the fuse. Unplug the rear shifter from the interface and try powering the system up and see if it works. If so then send in the rear shifter for repair.

Excellent advice insidercw3!

The ZR4 front shifters will still function without the rear shifter plugged in, you will just get a rear shifter error message every time the system first powers up.

Would you get the same error message if you have a Beltronics STI-R Plus with a shifter pack?

No, the STi-R Plus doesn't come with shifters, they are optional.

I should have worded my question differently. My question is, if I had the optional shifters, and unplugged the rear shifter, would it give the same error message?

The shifter package for the STi-R Plus only includes front shifters. There is no rear shifter for it.
