Hi UtilityBelt70mph -

You probably have received the newest version of the EL SmartCord, which has a universal Bluetooth chip-set for both iOS and Android.

The current version of Detector Tools is being upgraded to support the universal SmartCord, but until then, trying to update it will fail. However, your EL SmartCord is already current, and there is no reason to update your EL SmartCord.

There's no need to be concerned. Your new SmartCord is already up-to-date.

1st my apologies. i'm kinda new here. I thought I posted it here, then i didn't see it, found it in the live thread. was gonna see how to delete it, but then i saw a reply. won't happen again, sir :-)

I think you are incorrect on all counts (besides my double posting haha) i don't think you watched my video i posted.
i have a droid SCL. , it did update the firmware finally. and there is major reason to be concerned as my passport max is not receiving power from the SCL.

I'm sorry if that sounded like i was being a jerk. i didn't mean it to. i've lurked here a few times, and i've seen u help people on here, so i do thank you for the response.

But yeah. something is malfunctioning. the usb port isn't even giving off power

If you bought it from escort or an authorized dealer, then prepare to most likely get a prepaid shipping label from them to box it up and mail it back. It happens.

Thanks EVERYONE that answered and tried to help. I was hoping that it was just something i was doing wrong. Spoke to Escort Tech support and was told quote "Sounds like you have a bad cord, my friend"

the funny thing was at first, he thought i was just speaking about a regular Smartcord. I was telling how the USB port didn't give power to my cell phone, he said "Your Max is not going to power your cell phone, that USB port is only for your computer" haha

I'll be getting another Smartcord Live in the mail. I couldn't go back to the regular SC after a day of using the SCL. the SCL makes reporting threats so much easier, leaving more time for driving.

hey TBNTX, We're cool, right? I still don't want you thinking i was trying to be an @$$ to you. u da man, sir!

I ran into exactly this issue today when I updated my SmartCord Live for the first time in years. (I only recently realized that the iOS 11 fix was out!).

Lights both stayed on when I plugged it in post-update, and it didn't send power to my MAX.

I read this thread and thought, "stuck in update mode" sounded like my issue. So I plugged it back into my computer and re-ran the update.

Voilą. Problem solved!
