Thanks for that. I will try a restore first. I am still unsure which detector tools (regular or pro) to use with my serial # 67xxxxxx Max II.

Either version will work, but the “Pro” version runs faster.

NOTE: If Detector Tools reports that your firmware is current, there is no sense forcing the firmware to be re-installed.

Escort's Web site shows DT Pro for all MAX IIs regardless of serial number. See posts above and link below.

Since you want to completely overwrite the software you need to go the the Device Tab in DT Pro and select update all software (rather than use the green software update button on the main tab). The latest software for the MAX 2 serial # 67 is version 1.9. I do not think there is a different between MAX II and MAX 2 in that regard, but it won't matter because DT Pro will detect what it needs. Also if DT Pro fails to work you can try DT regular, and under its advanced tab, try update all software in that version (again do not rely on green software update button on main tab). The compatibility list in this forum still shows that it should work too.

Let us know if there is any change especially with the lack of the band's voice alert. Also if you are using the Smart Cord Live from your 9500ix try using a regular non-live smart cord without EL to eliminate all external possibilities.

From what you described it looks like you will either need to send it to Escort for service or take it out back and shoot it.
Good luck with the software overwrite test.

Thanks again everyone. I did it all. Restored and updated. Tried to get it to work using both my escort live cord and the cord that came with it. Still no voice, and still does not see anything near what my 9500ix sees.
Monday morning I will get with Customer Service for their best repair. Hopefully they will not balk at my ownership of this Max II. I'm sure it's registered to the guy who sold it to me, and he and I are done talking.

A few years back I sent my original MAX to Escort for a minor repair.
When it came back the only thing on it that was original its serial number. They literally replaced everything inside and out. Even the cord, and the mount which had been updated since mine was purchased. I thought it was a brand new MAX until I plugged it in and saw the serial number.

There was no change to Ka band detection in this firmware update.
If it continues to detect X and K falses from door openers, etc as it did before then it is most probably operating as it should. You may just have not encountered Ka band on this particular trip.

It is not possible to install previous versions of firmware.

If you would like to have it serviced, please contact our customer service department at the number in my signature below.

Purchased max 2, after 1.9 firmware update, now it says service required after a few min of being on. At least the person I purchased from said hes never seen that message prior to update. It does have a 67 serial. Also have a iX that says escort detector tools error merging ESC IX Defender has failed! Unable to write location data. Using a macbook pro and the mac version of detector tools.
