Default Mute

Have a question about the Mute button. I had used a mirror tap to power my Max 360 but it failed and I am using the cigarette lighter to power the unit and turning it on and off manually. It's a pain. I noticed that the unit seemed silent and I am wondering if when powering on I am hitting the Mute button. Is there any indication that the unit is on Mute on the display? I did not see any.
Thnaks,
Russ

When holding the mute button down while powering the detector on, the arrow display will cycle all of the arrows through every color. This does not silence the detector's power-on beep.

To check your detector's audio, hold down the + button to increase the volume level.

I called in about this and was told to turn Auto Mute off. I did that and the unit still is strangely silent. I used to get all sorts of warnings mostly about K band stuff but now get virtually none. I have reset the unit to Factory Defaults and still no change. The person I spoke with said that is it beeps when powering on then speaker is OK. No argument there but I do not understand why no other signals. He said the unit is "remembering" all locations. I took it to areas that I do not normally go and still nothing. Not sure I trust it at this point. Is there a definitive way to test this thing?

It is most probably doing its job and filtering out false alerts. We have the best false alert filtering available, and without a performance penalty on our MAX detectors!

You can visually verify stored a false alerts. The display will continue to show alerts that it has learned and is not audibly alerting to. They will be displayed in grey.

If you want to test its detection with the least amount of filtering then use Highway sensitivity mode and turn off the "GPS Filter" in the detector's Preferences menu.
