Lightbulb Escort, Please consider upgrading the 9500ci - some suggestions

Escort,

I have some ideas for a (hopefully) upcoming version of the 9500ci (your installed system).

Being a long time customer of yours (X50, Redline, Max, Max 2 and Max 360), I am in the market for a new detector. The detector type I am interested in is an installed system like your 9500ci. Although usually more expensive, an installed system performs better then any windshield mounted detector, has stealth in its performance, looks hidden/cleaner aesthetically and has better windshield visibility compared to a window mounted unit. Plus, on top of all of this, I also wouldn’t have to worry about radar detector theft.

Some of my ideas for an improved 9500ci installed system are:

1. Make it detect radar farther than other brands of installed systems.

2. Make it have the best false alert analysis and suppression on the market.
--- This newer, upgraded installed system would have a faster processor so that it can better analyze and weed out the false signals and alert much more accurately and faster.

Also, to help with the whole issue of false alerts (both in this system and all your detectors) consider making this system a literal "spectrum analyzer" recorder. Don't just have the system go "beep/alert the user" if a certain radar frequency is detected but actually record the radar wave pattern onto a small internal hard drive. Have a notification come up on the screen when radar is detected that gives three options in which the user selects one.

1. Threat seen
2. No threat seen
3. Known false

This choice would then be "tagged" to the corresponding radar wave pattern. This choice could be changed by the user at a later time if the alert was missed or incorrectly labeled by going into the system settings. There could also be a quick "mark last radar signal seen as threat" button/option to mark the last alert detected as "seen" if the user missed marking the correct response in time when radar was present and they saw a legit threat.

Once sufficient data is collected on both the radar waveforms as well as their respective tag of "threat seen, not seen", data from this hard drive could be uploaded manually to an external USB and transferred to a computer. This data could then be sent to Escort over an internet connection. Or this data could be accessed, downloaded and transferred to Escort automatically though the push of a button in Escort Live with an active cell/data connection.

Escort would then take all of this data, collected from all of its users and run all of this data through a commercially available artificial intelligent machine learning program (such as IBM Watson) to learn patterns (such as radar wave form, frequency, amplitude, side bands etc.) of both legit threat radar and false alerts. These telltale signal/radar fingerprints may be missed/not seen/not known by humans in regards to what radar wave/patterns mostly constitute most BSM, CAS and other false alerts and what mostly constitutes real threats. Basically a computer, not just a human, would actually look at the DNA of a signal and with "machine learning" sort out the good from the bad. Then there would be new algorithms to be made that reflect this newfound knowledge. Granted, there may be some user error here and there with marking these "seen, unseen an no threats" (we are human) but overall, people are pretty smart and observant and this should be a pretty accurate way to get this kind of data. This newfound knowledge could then be passed onto all of your other detectors to benefit all of them as well.

3. Have it be compatible with Escort Live

4. Store all road speed limit data on the actual installed device.
---This would be great for those of us who don't want to connect to Live every single time they get into their vehicle. The stored speed limit data could be superseded if connected to Live at any point. The speed for a particular road could be changed and updated by the user permanently to the unit if they see an incorrect speed limit showing for a particular road. Speed limit data could also be updated and uploaded the same way speed cam data is updated now.

5. Make it have a rear facing horn
--- Right now the 9500ci only has one front facing radar receiver placed at the front of the vehicle. Please include a second facing rear radar receiver in a newer version of this system so that “arrows” can be incorporated into it. This system would basically be a souped up, installed, better performing, stealth Max 360.

I have attached the picture showing what I am referring too (below). One front facing and one rear facing radar receiver should blow away the Max 360 in detection range as well as be able to “point to the threat” more accurately. Plus it would include the other advantages of having an installed system vs. a windshield mount like I listed above.

Please consider upgrading the 9500ci to include the suggestions above. I would buy this setup in a heartbeat! I know I am not alone.

Thanks!

Default Directional arrows for 9500ci - YES PLEASE!

I just wanted to add my agreement with txbearsfan81 I've had two 9500cis and a few other ESCORT detectors, and I'm now on hold waiting to buy an installed/hidden system with the 360 Max directional arrows. Any news on when that might come out?

Thanks.

Tough one that would be a 3k system. I would love to see some evolution of the M3, they could even put a less expensive antenna on the rear and do the same job.

Escort, it looks like a different brand may soon be implementing machine learning in its upcoming radar detector. It unfortunate you had not listened to me 3 or 4 years ago when I made the OP in this thread as you could have been the first to market such a unit. I feel like a lot of the suggestions I have made to Escort over the years has fallen on deaf ears. Regardless, major innovators in the field will advance and move ahead, with or without the rest of the pack.

The only edit was removing your quote of the entire original post.
