Does law enforcement use X band anywhere? I live in upstate NY and the only usage I can tell is Ka with occasional K band. Maybe it's best to turn off X band altogether?

I can speak from experience that X band is used by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Over the weekend I had a stellar alert on a MAX 360c to moving I/O.
I've heard X band radar is used by the New Jersey Highway Patrol. Nobody knows for sure which local jurisdictions are using X. To reduce false X band alerts, use Auto sensitivity mode along with AutoLearn enabled.

Exactly. Why do you think the Ohio State Highway Patrol, located in the detector capital of the world, took the X guns out of their old cruisers and put them into their new cruisers? Because they regularly nail detector users that either do not detect X or have turned it off.
There is no issue with leaving X on in an Escort detector. X falses are rare these days and are easily AutoLearned.
