Default Disable ESCORT SmartCord Live DirectWire Alerts on 9500ci?

Hi there, I have a two year old 9500ci with an installed DirectCord Live. My Live subscription expired and I don't want to renew it because I find the radar detection is all I really need. I found the Live alerts were usually no longer applicable (the CHP car that generated the original detection had almost always already moved) and so were more distraction than useful in my case.

But the 9500ci keeps giving me Live alerts, which I presume are just what happened to be in the system when my subscription ran out. I've been though the menus and manuals I can't figure out how to disable this via any settings. It would be nice to be able to disable it without having to dig into the wiring, and I do still like that I can use the Live app to edit settings. Is there any way to get rid of these alerts, or at least the beeps, without physically disconnecting the DirectWire?

If not, will simply unplugging the DirectWire do the trick?

Thanks!

First, let me mention that your Escort Live subscription hasn't run out. Escort has been extending them for all users. Perhaps you're referring to Defender?

Secondly, live alerts are reported in Escort Live on your Smartphone, which are then passed to your detector via bluetooth.

If you really don't want to use Escort Live with the detector, you can do any of the following:
  • Unpair your smartphone's bluetooth. This lets you have the option of running the EL app on its own, or re-connect to the detector.
  • Simply close out of the app. It sounds to me that you're letting it run in the background.
  • You can delete the EL app from your smartphone.

Any of these will do the trick.

Huh. Okay. The app tells me my subscription has run out and asks me to renew every time I start it, and I decline. I assumed that meant it wasn't getting live data. Sounds like I'm wrong. I did turn off the app's access to location data a while back make sure it wouldn't drain the phone battery. I'll try deleting the app and see what happens and report back here. Thanks!

Your premium Escort Live subscription should not have expired. We have continually extended them for all Escort Live ready device users.

If you change your mind and decide you would like to continue using your premium Escort Live subscription then please contact our customer service department. Please have your SmartCord Live's serial number when you call. It is located under the Smart module (the module that has the mute and report buttons on it).

The app shows that it's expired because you aren't signed into your premium account.

Okay, so you guys were right. I reinstalled the app, logged in, and it's working again.

That said, the 9500ci ALWAYS shows a "Live Ka" in this one spot in my little town. It doesn't appear on the app. It's really annoying because the 9500ci starts warning me a ways out from any direction and it's not a current alert. In fact, I turned off ALL live alerts from the app and now I don't get any other Live alerts on the 9500ci, just this one glitchy false one.

Seems like a bug that this one is cached somewhere and won't clear. Any idea how to clear it? Do I need to factory reset the whole unit?

There must be corrupted data on the flash memory of your 9500ci. You can clear it but in doing so you will also have to also clear all of the locations on your 9500ci including cameras and TrueLock false alert locations. You can back up your saved TrueLock locations using Detector Tools then restore them after you manually clear the database.

To clear the entire location database:
With the system off (vehicle ignition off) press and hold the SENS and MRK buttons while powering on the system. You will now see on the display, "ERASE?". Now quickly press the MUTE button to confirm erasing the database. The display should show, "ERASING". If you do not see ERASING then power off the system and try again.

Afterwards use Detector Tools to "merge" the Defender camera location database onto your 9500ci.

Thanks! I will try it. I haven't saved any locations of my own so I should be okay it sounds like.

Finally picking this up again. I can't seem to do the procedure to clear the memory you describe. I've tried holding SENS and MRK while powering on, and I've tried waiting until it first starts to wake up, and various other tapping them or waiting for various stages. The only thing I get is if I hold them the display never comes on although the detector seems to be awake from the beeping. I never get the "ERASE" prompt. I tried pressing Mute anyway to confirm but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. This must be user error of some kind but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any advise on getting that ERASE prompt? I've just been living with and learning to ignore the marked location every day when I leave my house but I'd sure love to have this fixed.
