Default Beeps forever when first turning on...

Hi,

My new 360c about 50% of the time when I first get in my car for the day (or may be a couple days) in the garage, start it up, start driving and right away it starts detecting ka band with 2(?) beeps constantly pointing forward no matter what direction I'm going. If I turn it of and back on, it starts working. Is this a firmware bug or something wrong with my unit? Do I need to contact support?

TIA!!

I'm on my 3rd unit. I replaced the first brand-new one for behaving as you stated (updated from version 1.10 to version 1.11). Second unit went back for no front antenna signal (ugh). The one that I have now behaved the same as you describe after updating to 1.11 via wifi. Someone suggested re-flashing the software/firmware via Detector Tools. I re-updated the software via DT, using "Device > Update All Software". It seemed to be working better than before, however, it will behave with false Ka "blips" every once in awhile.

I can go days with no Ka falses and then I will get an occasional Ka blip, which may just disappear. Sometimes it will act up and keep giving false Ka's. At that point, I unplug the unit and plug it right back in and it seems to behave perfectly after that.

It's annoying, disappointing and erratic behavior, which I believe IS firmware related (I've had 2 brand-new units behave this way), since I've read of others on this forum and on the ER Facebook page, in addition to your post that have described the exact same behavior. Furthermore, the 3rd unit that I received was supposed to have been "Tested" before being shipped.

I really don't want to return my detector again, just to receive another detector acting the exact same way. I lose all of my marked locations (since there is no way to backup with the 360c). I go without a detector for a couple of weeks and then the disappointment of the same behavior (or worse) upon receipt of the new detector.

I've decided that it works well enough now and the unplug and plug back in seems to resolve the false blips. I will await a new Firmware update, hoping that this issue comes to further light and has enough credence for ER to do something to resolve.

IF it gets worse, or if no fix is on the horizon, I have the extended warranty and plenty of time to send it back again. Although I really don't want to.

Just wanted to inform you of my experience. Others have stated that they've returned their units and that they are working well now. I find it hard to believe that I could receive 3 brand-new bum units in a row. It doesn't give me any faith that another return will be the magical one.

I think that the 1.11 software/firmware is definitely suspect, as it was designed to eliminate false Ka band on rear antenna (which I never experienced). My falses have all been from the front antenna. They are short and they resolve after restarting the unit.

I'm guessing that the official response will be to send your detector back in for service. Good luck with that!

PS I owned the Max 360 for over 3 years before purchasing the 360c. The 360 NEVER behaved this way. My car is 18 years old and has no CAS/BSM. I live in a rural area with long stretches of no vehicles, businesses, homes. The 360c behavior is not associated with anything repeatable.

LMAO, not far off! But, definitely not a classic. It's a 2002 Toyota Echo that I picked up 3 years ago for $2500.00 It had 29,000 miles on it and was, literally, a little old lady's car. I've added 50,000 miles and it still runs like new! 37mpg average, no annual property tax, and liability only insurance, keeps me from getting rid of it!

A member of another forum tracked his issue to his smartphone's emissions (frequency harmonics).

You may want to try it with your smartphone turned off to see if your issue might be related to his experience.

I did, actually, try it one day with the phone off and it still alerted. I remember that someone on this forum had mentioned it a while back. I never got any followup response for verification

I guess I should consider myself lucky. Mine only gives me false alerts on rear K band. Last August I drove from Ohio the California with absolutely no problem. Strange!!

Yup! Plus it was sent back for repair. No better after return!

I have blocked the two frequencies on K band but most of the police around us use K band so I am taking a gamble!
