Now that Solo 3 is discontinued as well, Escort only has 3 WS detectors. We all know Solo 4 is coming and no one is excited about it, hopefully RedLine 2 is coming out soon too. I heard rumors about August, but hopefully it is sooner.

Above reply to, "Best Replacement for redline?" Perfect

Anyway, in my opinion the good looks of the Redline is something I hope Escort can emulate if/when their new detector to replace the Legend is released. The stealth black finish (aka B2 aircraft), unrivaled performance, ease of operation to say a few. Beltronics had it first with their STi Driver, my first serious detector and it is still in service as an updated STi Magnum!

Exclamation Warning

I will reopen this thread on the condition that the discussion remains about Escort products. If you would like information about other products then please go to their forum.

Thank you

Fair enough! I think people are just excited/disappointed. Excited about a possible RL replacement, disappointed they have no teaser info on it yet though.

As with any product when something new and amazing comes out that a lot of people have been asking for the impulsive people purchase right away, the cautious people wait a little bit, but if no competition comes to the market to match (or is teased/hinted about), then they dive in and purchase themselves as well.

I understand Escorts policy on not giving info out before the release, but now we are talking about over 6 figures of missed sales!

I know when another company releases a new product and their competition is behind by a little with their release they let some things 'leak' to hopefully stall sales of their competition by getting people to second guess and wait until both are fully on the market.

I guess we will have to wait and see! Would love to hear an anticipated 1.6 release for the 360 though - I think at this point the forum members would get more upset by silence than a missed time frame, at least we would know there are goals trying to be set. The amount of new cars driving around this year vs last year with the nanny systems is getting worse!

+1000, exactly!!!! I am one of them that is impatiently waiting for an announcement from Escort, if I don't hear anything soon, I eventually will give up and purchase "the other" detector.

OK, I'll Bite. How about this somewhat radical/futuristic approach for a RedLine replacement . . . a completely modular, low power-draw, small foot-print unit .

A small front K/Ka antenna module, with blue tooth chip, processor chip and on/off switch only. No display, no controls, no speaker, no GPS, no X band, no Laser. It would transmit result to smart phone app (Escort Live enhanced) which had all the controls/display/GPS/database. Could be small, stealthy & relatively inexpensive (given hardware it omits) and easily clip on the visor or mirror (also since no GPS). IVT could be done on the internal processor chip or on the phone app (or both).

A second optional K/Ka module (also blue tooth connected to phone app) could be used as a rear antenna (mounted front or rear window area) which would give optional arrow capability on the phone's display.

Could also add laser or X band modules as future options (but don't see much demand for those).

Wow...I never thought of something like Poolmon's suggesting. It's a great idea. And I think a lot of people would bite. Less hw to purchase which means cheaper for the user and takes advantage of an appliance that almost all of us carry - a cellphone. They'd be able to get front and rear antenna's because the cost of the processing power would be eliminated.

That said, it's not for me. I don't want to use my cellphone to make a detector a detector. Give me a WS mount that does what the Max II does with better range and BSM filtering. You can even drop the Bluetooth because, like I said, I want a detector that mounts on my WS and is a detector without additional "stuff". I have no interest in trying a Valentine because a cell phone is needed to make it a real detector. I don't even need arrows in a WS mount. If I purchase an installed system, I'd definitely want arrows. With a WS mount, I can do without.

But, it's really a great idea and I'm sure a lot of people would buy one.

The problem is that one size will never fit all.

Not for me and not as a RedLine. I want a beast detector with GPS that can be used even without phone.

I currently use a stand-alone RD too, with no cell tie in. I was just trying to think of something other than just another similar-in-features/design windshield RD.

With the cell/EL tie-in I believe you can even avoid a Defender subscription (as I understand it). If you bought 2 low cost modules (lets say 1 for each family car) you could use the second as a rear antenna module for arrows if you went on a family trip (perhaps holding its power-on for 5 seconds it would designate it as a rear antenna in a 2 antenna setup).

Anyway, just trying to toss out some crazy ideas.

Where did you hear rumors about an August debut?
