Default Redline Discontinued :(

Holy cow...I just found out on another forum that the Redline is discontinued. What a shame. For a unit that held the range king title for so long, it doesn't seem like a fair ending to the story.

But I guess we have to say goodbye to the old and in with the new.

I'm waiting to hear what the 'new' is now.

Yeah, I checked the website before I posted because I'm learning I can't always believe what I read in other places.

Larry's mentioned that the 9500 iX was their longest lasting product but the Redline has to be right up there with it.

Anyone remember when the 9500 iX and Redlines came out? And if so, where are you looking to find that information? A while back, TBNTX was able to quote when the different Max series units as well as the new Escort iX were released. I wonder if he's got a website that has that info. Maybe it's Escorts website where he got that info, I don't know.

P.S. And why now? I'm sure this announcement was planned for a while but some are going to think it's related to another manufacturers announcement. It's just too close in time for that to be the truth. No company pulls the plug based on another company's announcement. There's just too much involved for that kind of knee jerk reaction, especially when there's only a weeks difference.

With all the BSMs out there (and more being added each day), combined with the substantial distance capabilities of the current generation of iX and MAX, I'm not sure there is a continued huge demand for a super long range (and ultra sensitive/unfiltered) RD.

The ideal replacement RD that I'd jump on immediately (and pay a premium price for) would be a MAX 360 all digital/arrows with enhanced IVT, in the small sleek body of the new iX, with the stealth capability of the retired Redline. Well I can at least dream, can't I . . .

Interesting! I really really really hope they have something coming out very soon! I have to admit I am getting very tempted looking at the other grass, I would rather stay with Escort though if I could.

Yeah, and that's a pretty nice dream

I'm sure they'll have something new to announce shortly. The question is, will it be the unit you're describing? And at what price?

I don't know how big Escort is or how big their engineering dept is but I would have thought a lot of them were focused on the MaxCi until it went out the door. Now that it's out, a lot of hands free up but if there's a new detector announcement coming soon, it means Escort had multiple irons in the fire.

Doesn't surprise me and good for them. Maybe put to rest some of the chatter happening elsewhere.

If it were the unit you're describing, I don't know if I could resist it. A shame since I like my Max II and I'm thinking about the MaxCi in 10 months or so.

Plans change and like John Lennon once said, "life is what happens while you're making plans".

Exciting times.

Yellowtang -

Your unit didn't suddenly get worse and the threat landscape didn't suddenly change. Don't drink the Koolaid.

I bet there's more to be announced soon so stay tuned.

Hard to believe. Guess we'll see if Escort can conjure up a worthy successor because the Redline has been a baseline in which all escort products have been measured against as well as other brands when it comes to performance..
MaxCI is a different market, and nothing independent to tell us if it actually lives up to any performance billing.
The WS RD market is wide open now and the players are bringing thier A+ game when it comes to performance and price.
So of course now all eyes are on Escort, what they do or don't do will tell us and the market alot..

Red face Redline discontinued for a reason

the only reason behind that was : Uniden R3 ... it beat the crap out of it
just sold mine 5 days ago and im happy i did, waiting for the R3 to come out, escort never wanted to listen to us, i've called many times and was told making a redline with GPS and arrows would require space blablabla.... useless blabla
now they gonna feel the heat...
too bad and too late now.
