Default just a quick question please

why is it that we have to use our phone with the app, to get the posted speed limits to show on the 360 max.
i can see using the phone to lock out spots that aren't there, but the max 360 has a GPS in it, so it should be able to post the speed limits, unless they are programed into the app on the phone.
and what does the LIVE KA BAND mean. sometimes it says KA band, and sometimes it says LIVE KA BAND? thanks

You have to use your phone with the app to get the posted speed limit information to show up on your detector because thatís where it comes from is the app, and your phone is the link from the app to your detector as that information is not on your detector by itself.

The live Ka band that you see is also from
the app. Without the app and the connection from your detector to your phone, you wonít see that. What that all means is that with your escort live app, youíre able to see whenever you go through the same area that some other escort detector user with the app connected has gone through, they already automatically recorded and pinned the location of a known Ka band sighting. Itís just another means of detection to help inform you that there may be a cop there or nearby that itís telling you was there, long before you actually get there. That live ďwhateverĒ alert is also very useful if it happens to be a live laser alert since no detector is really all that great against laser radar because once your detector goes off from a laser gun, itís already pretty much too late as the cop thatís using it already knows your speed if you were speeding. The live laser alert will tell you this information before you got there to actually help keep you outta trouble if heís still there shooting laser at people. You will have already had plenty of time to adjust your speed.

Great post Corneileous with one small correction. "No detector is really all that great against laser radar". Laser is not radar at all, it's light. Two completely different animals.

I know itís not, and even though it was a bad choice of words on my part, I wasnít implying that laser is the same thing as radar. Thatís what makes Lidar... so deadly is that once your detector goes off, the only thing you can hope for is that youíre lucky enough to catch the remnants of the car in front of you being hit with the laser but if thereís no one in front of you, youíre the target- and itís too late.

Yea to describe it very simply, it's like turning your computer on without it being connected to the internet and then checking your email. No data.... No email. Same thing here. Your detector has to have a data connection in order to retrieve info from the cloud for live alerts and for it to also get the latest speed limit info etc.

If you have wifi in your car you would benefit from a Max360c because it will automattically connect itself to your wifi and get all that info without having to deal with a phone.

Really? I thought the built in WiFi of the 360c was just to keep it updated like the new Garmim GPSís.

So you no longer need your phone Bluetoothed to this detector, and Escort Live to be on the phone? My new Ram has WiFi but itís an extra charge I donít care to pay for since I have free hotspot on my iPhone but still, you donít need EL anymore, with that detector?

Correct.. The detector will deliver Live alerts to you and update itself as long as it's connected to wifi....

Well, hopefully that doesnít end up suckiní pretty bad one day for the older detectors if they decide to phase out EL since they depend on Escort Live for the PSL info and the live alerts.

lol . Well I highly doubt that, but that's like worried a meter might hit earth and destroy us all. It could happen but no sense worrying about it. Just enjoy the present.
