Default My redine is now a new car detector ?

Took a trip from NC to Niagara Falls this past week. I found out how many new cars are on the road with K band. Is my redline now useless ?

It must have been a while since you last used it. Yes, many new cars use radar-based technology for collision avoidance systems such as adaptive cruise control, predictive braking, and blind spot monitoring.

Our newer detectors include "IVT Filtering" which rejects many of these signals. Our "MAX" all-digital line of detectors do the best job of filtering while delivering extreme performance.

Yes for K band it's useless. I hate to say that but it is. If you want to run a Redline you will have to either turn K band off and take a chance or get a new Redline EX to get the IVT. Sorry I know that's not what you wanted to hear but it's time for an upgrade if you need to run K band. You could get a Max360 and get the arrows and the filter too unless you need to be invisible.

Hey, it happens. Lol. My Beltronics 936 used to be a badass detector after I first bought it but now almost 15 years later, it ainít even worth the plastic that surrounds it. Itís the nature of the beast.

But just to say though, I donít know why all these car manufacturers couldnít use X band radar for their idiot car stuff instead of K band which is still used by quite a few small towns and counties.

Yea it's like a cellphone. My old 15 or 20 year old brick phone won't function in todays cellular world.

Oh yes. They still detect K. Lol. And waaaaaay too well. That’s the whole issue. . And this is why the Redline EX exists or at least one of the reasons. . The EX can filter a lot of what the old Redline picks up waaaaay too well. Like cars and such. Unless you wanna know when a car is around (not a police car either) then I’d say you need to retire that Old Redline and get something with a filter man.

They are still servicing them if it has a technical issue but likely they won’t forever and no there will be no more updates for a Redline Original.

Also please don’t take me wrong. A Old Redline is a super awesome detector. If you can stand all the false alerts on K then by all means you got yourself a great detector. One of the best actually.

Yes, your reading it wrong. You need to read up on the forum here to get up to date. Newer vehicles have safety systems like blind spot monitoring (BSM), collision avoidance systems (CAS), and adaptive cruise control. All these systems function on the K band radar frequency.

Escorts newer models have a new filtering system call IVT which helps filter most of these false K band signals out. Unfortunately the original Redline does not have this filtering and it cannot be added. This means your Redline will alert to every car on the road with a BSM or CAS system as if it was real Police K band radar.

Last, the Redline has been replaced/updated to the Redline EX model. This adds the IVT filtering as well has the GPS based autolearn feature. You will have to check it out.
