That's useful advice. I will try that. Thank you!

My solo shuts off for no apparent reason as well. I have it set to shut off after 25 minutes of no motion, however there are times when I am driving and it will just randomly go to sleep, as if the motion sensor thinks I am stopped. This happens in a variety of different cars, different batteries, etc....

I assume the motion sensor is bad....is it possible to have that tested / serviced?

BJS6153 -

Escort's really good about warranty work. If your unit's under warranty, call the Escort customer service line and ask if you can send your unit in to be tested.

If your unit isn't under warranty, there may be a charge but if the unit powering down is really bothering you, get it fixed. There's no reason to be driving around with a detector you can't trust.

There's a design issue. Hopefully it has been addressed with the newer units.

Mine was exchanged for new and the same problem presented itself. That was some years back.

Thanks for the replies. My unit is about 3 years old, so no longer under warranty. I'll have to give Escort a call, because it is annoying to have the unit go to sleep while driving.

The current Solo 3 has been around for years, no design issues left to iron out. The next step in the near future will probably be a new Solo that supports the new IVT filtering.
