MAX II will not pair after performing Update All

We found an issue causing BLE Bluetooth to be undiscoverable on MAX II (serial 97) after using “Update All” with an older version of Detector Tools Pro v2.3.3.18 that was released 8/21/18.

We have released a new version of Detector Tools Pro that will fix Bluetooth in these instances. If you are affected by this click here for instructions.

I updated my 97------ Max II again (2nd time) today with the latest version of Detectors Tools Pro using my PC and Bluetooth is still not discoverable.

Tried calling today and they indicate that because of high call volume the waits are supposedly 20 minutes. The recording indicates that I should try calling later in the week when they are less busy (today is Thursday). Live Chat also does not appear to be working. Poor customer service.

Contacted customer service. After some confusion regarding the eligibility of my serial number (had to refer them to the post in this forum) they indicated I needed to send them the detector. They provide all the labels and information for the return.

bug bit me too.

Unfortunately this bit me too. Spent 32 minutes on phone with Escort support only to learn I have to send it in when I get back from my 2500 mile round trip. Ugggggh. It would seem t me that if they put out a firmware update that "breaks" it that they can put one out that 'fixes' it, but that's just me.
Expected much more from a $400 radar detector. So much more.

I'm sorry to hear this happened. To be clear, the phone rep gave you the incorrect information. If you were affected by this, updating it with latest Detector Tools will not solve it. I will contact the service manager and remind them of the correct information.

You will need to call us to set up having it serviced.

You no longer need to have your detector serviced for this

We have released a new version of Detector Tools Pro that will be able to fix Bluetooth in these instances. If you are affected by this simply open Detector Tools Pro and update it when prompted, then use "Update All" from the menu.

I have just purchased a new Escort MAX II from Best Buy and it has a serial number that starts with 97. Odd that there is no label on the detector. Anyway, upon purchase I immediately registered the product and paired it with my iPhone 6. Worked good with Bluetooth and Escort Live version 2.1.44 Build 1 on my trip home...just like my MAX 360 and RedLine EX. When I arrived home, I used Detector Tools Pro version 2.3.3.24 on Windows 7 to first check firmware at 1.0, and then "Update All" to firmware 1.1 successfully. When I powered up the MAX II and started Escort Live, the blue Bluetooth symbol showed on the front of the detector (in place of the posted speed limit) and a YELLOW Bluetooth symbol showed on Escort Live with a banner that said "No radar detector connected. Your radar detector is not communicating with SmartCord Live".

When looking at Connected Devices under Escort Live, It shows MAX II and underneath connected (in blue), yet it is not really connected. I do NOT use a SmartCord for Bluetooth. This came with the non USB power older style cord, which was surprising considering the MAX II Platinum Edition is currently selling with the power cord that has USB power. Attempted to "Forget" the MAX II on my iPhone and rediscover it again after power cycling both the detector and Escort Live. It finds it, and pairs it, buth the results are the same...Yellow BT symbol on EL, and it's not communicating. Used Detector Tools Pro v2.3.3.24 and did UPDATE ALL again. NO FIX. And there was no way to select "Discover Device", as directed on the linked thread as the "fix" for this issue. And yes, I did blow out ALL my pairing info for all my detectors and try to pair JUST the MAX II. Same results every time, no communication with MAX II.

What will fix this problem? I tried everything suggested here and on the link, even though those instructions cant be followed as there is no way to discover the device if it can already see it. THERE WAS NO OPTION TO RELOAD THE BOOTLOADER. Firmware 1.0 worked fine with Bluetooth and Escort Live. Firmware 1.1 broke it. We need a fix.

Thank you,

Phil
